ABOUT SPOT

“It all started with a vision when we saw the need for a structured and clean training environment in the neighborhood with all the essentials you need all in one place, a gym that offers full locker rooms, fresh towels, and even the smallest of things like hair ties and mints. We turned that vision into reality in 2013 at 86th St. Columbus Avenue, and SPOT was born.

One of my aspirations as an athlete was to open a gym where people can be inspired, empowered, and strengthened as they feel the spirit of community. Whether you are a first-timer or an experienced member, everyone will be treated equally by our passionate and well-trained coaches. My wife, Carolin, and I established SPOT as an extension of our family, and no one will be left out. We want to build a community where my wife and I would be the ones personally taking care of our members and everyone who is part of the community.”

SPOT stands for Skilled Athletes, Passionate Coaches, Outcome-Based Training, and Team Environment.

ARE YOU READY

FOR THE ULTIMATE EXERCISE EXPERIENCE?

With SPOT’s growth in popularity, more and more fitness enthusiasts and athletes came into the scene wanting to compete at extremely high levels. From different walks of life, ranging from former professional players to the ultra-marathon runners and even the first-timer enthusiasts, people have been craving for a powerful platform alongside a team of passionate and dedicated trainers to guide them. This is where SPOT comes in.

In this kind of workout, the primary requirements are hard work, dedication, and perseverance. If results are going to be achieved, then one should have a stable base, and core stability must be developed before performing higher skill movements. There is a process for you to achieve this, and our coaches will surely be there for you from start to finish.

Aside from building strength through our workouts and exercies, we recommend and remind our members the importance of having a healthy, balanced diet. Good nutrition is essential to improve muscle growth and body fat composition. Combining regular workouts and proper nutrition will allow your bodies to lose significant weight while building muscles. This powerful combo will also help improve your aerobic capacity by reducing painful joints and will contribute to faster body recovery, improved energy levels, and better sleep quality.

CAROLIN DE LA ROSA (OWNER)

Carolin has multiple years of training under her weight belt, along with a degree in mental health counseling. She is a mother of three and an athlete who believes competing in the fitness world provides her with a better understanding of how to break down movements. Combining her personal experiences with her studies, Caroline offers a well-rounded and intimate fitness experience. She wants to show other moms that they too can be fit and strong.

CALDER HANNAN

Calder has been coaching Weightlifting and CrossFit since 2013. Being an active kid all his life, Calder started focusing on Weightlifting and CrossFit in high school. Eventually, he started competing in these sports, and as he got older, he realized how important being an athlete is for his mental health as well as his physical health.

“Too often, I see people bite off more than they can chew too quickly, and they get burnt out, hurt, and discouraged after a few weeks. Success is the result of months and years of consistency, not of overdoing it a handful of times. Be patient and master the basics—challenge yourself, but play the long game.”

JEAN-PAUL JIMINEZ

As a former CrossFit box owner in Peru, Jean-Paul has been coaching since 2013. He believes that CrossFit is not a means to an end for most people, but that it makes people better at what they love. This was true for him with basketball, cycling and swimming. It’s an innovative form of functional training and it truly matters what you do outside of the gym and not just inside. JP likes to keep his workouts fresh and innovative, and the serenity of an early morning to write out his programming for the day is his favorite part of being a coach.

“Consistency is key. You will have good days and bad days, but all that matters is that you show up. If you dedicate the time, you will see results.”
